Catherine Colomb
Catherine Colomb (born August 18, 1892 in Saint-Prex , † November 13, 1965 in Prilly ), actually Marie-Louise Colomb-Reymond , was a French-speaking Swiss writer .
Life
Catherine Colomb was the daughter of Victor-Arnold Colomb, owner of the vineyards of the Saint-Prex Castle, and Jeanne Colomb, b. Champ-Renaud.
Since her mother died when she was five years old, she was raised by her maternal grandmother and grew up in Begnins and later in Lausanne . She studied humanities at the University of Lausanne and graduated in 1916 with a licentiate. In 1921 she married the lawyer Jean Reymond.
Catherine Colomb began writing in secret in 1921 and published her first novel-like essay Pile ou face in 1934 under the pseudonym "Catherine Tissot". But it was the three novels Châteaux en enfance (1945), Les Esprits de la terre (1953) and Le Temps des Anges (1962; all translated into German) that made her known as a French-Swiss writer of the 20th century.
