Cecil Chao Sze-tsung

Cecil Chao Sze-tsung , also spelled Chao Sze-Tsung (* 1936 ), is a Chinese architect , entrepreneur and billionaire in Hong Kong . He is considered a real estate tycoon and playboy .

Life

Cecil Chao Sze-tsung studied architecture at the University of Durham in England. He founded Cheuk Nang Holdings Ltd. and worked in the Hong Kong Construction Department. Since 1988 he has been Executive Chairman of Cheuk Nang Holdings Ltd. and Yan Yin Company Limited as well as member of the governing bodies of other companies such as Enew Media Group and Enm Holdings Ltd. He was head of the Hong Kong Real Estate Developers' Association for decades and was named World Outstanding Chinese in 2004 . The US Morrison University awarded him an honorary doctorate.

In his private life, the son of a wealthy shipowner, Chao Sze-tsung, is considered a notorious killer who had various lovers and children with them, but never married. On Time online he was characterized as a Hong Kong-specific combination of Hugh Hefner and Donald Trump .

Chao Sze-tung's eldest daughter, Gigi Chao , emerged from a relationship with actress Kelly Yao Wei . a. starred in the 1992 Hong Kong action film Naked Killer . His offer to pay HK $ 500 million to a possible husband of his daughter Gigi Chao hit the world press in 2012. Gigi Chao is lesbian and at the time married her long-time partner under French law . According to press reports from 2013, Sacha Baron Cohen is working on a film project that is inspired by this story.

The affair has some bearing on how China is dealing with homosexuality . Gigi Chao has now appeared at demonstrations in Hong Kong with her mother. In Hong Kong, the Yan Fook Church, part of the evangelical Free Church of China, supports the equality of homosexual couples.

A commentator for the South China Morning Post pointed out that, unlike many self-made millionaires and billionaires in Hong Kong, Cecil Chao Sze-tung inherited his wealth in the second generation. Given Gigi Chao's business successes, it would seem that good taste and business acumen skipped a generation (Cecil).
