Cedric Price FRIBA (born September 11, 1934 in Stone , Staffordshire , † August 10, 2003 in London ) was a British architect , architecture teacher and specialist author.

Himself the son of an architect, studied Price architecture at St John's College of the University of Cambridge (completion in 1955) and at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in London , where he the modernist architect and urban planner Arthur Korn met who influenced him greatly.

From 1958 to 1964 Price taught at the AA and the Council of Industrial Design . He later founded Polyark , a network of architecture schools . As a practicing architect, Price first worked with Maxwell Fry and Denys Lasdun before founding his own office in 1960, where he designed the aviary for the London Zoo with Lord Snowdon and Frank Newby (1961). The Snowdon Aviary has been a listed building since 1998. He later also worked with Buckminster Fuller on the Claverton Dome .

One of his best-known projects was the Fun Palace (1961), developed together with theater director Joan Littlewood . Although it was never realized, its flexible interior design influenced other architects such as Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano , whose Center Georges Pompidou in Paris developed many of Price's ideas. Price himself applied it on a more modest scale at the Inter-Action Center in Kentish Town , London (1971).

Price also came up with the idea for a ferris wheel on the banks of the Thames , which has now been realized in the form of the London Eye .

Price was married to actress Eleanor Bron .
