Celil Oker
Celil Oker ( 1952 in Kayseri - 5. May 2019 in Istanbul ) was a Turkish crime - writer .
Life
Oker was a student at the Talas American College in Talas in Kayseri province and the American school in Tarsus . From 1971 to 1979 he studied English language and literature at the Bosporus University in Istanbul . After that, Oker worked as a journalist , translator and writer of encyclopedic articles until 1983 , and from 1984 also as a copywriter. In 1987 he founded an advertising agency with colleagues and was also a lecturer in advertising copy at the private Istanbul Bilgi University .
His first literary works were some short stories published in 1980 . As a writer, Oker established himself in 1999 with first place for his crime novel Snow on the Bosporus at the first Turkish crime literature competition "Kaktus". This was followed by other volumes on the private detective Remzi Ünal . His work appears in German in the metro series of the Zürcher Unionsverlag .
Celil Oker was married and had two sons. He lived and worked in Istanbul, where he died in May 2019 at the age of 67.
