Cemil İpekçi

Remzi Cemil İpekçi (born August 5, 1948 in Istanbul , Turkey ) is a Turkish fashion designer and one of the most prominent Erdoğan supporters from the gay movement .

Life

Cemil İpekçi was born in Istanbul as the son of an artist from Thessaloniki , the well-known soprano Leyla Gencer is a relative. On the part of his father, the DSP politician İsmail Cem and the peace activist Abdi İpekçi are his cousins. The once Ottoman İpekçizâde family is of Jewish descent and is one of the Dönme . Career

Cemil İpekçi studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and graduated in 1971. From 1972 to 1975 he worked as a stylist . In 1975 he founded his fashion label Tzagane and opened a branch in Nice in 1979 . In 1984 he founded the Haute Couture fashion house in Istanbul , where he turned to modern, new evening wear.
