The Ceno is a 63 km long, non-navigable river in the northern Italian Po Valley . It rises on Monte Penna in the Apennines and forms the left tributary of the Taro , into which it flows at Fornovo di Taro . It mainly flows through the province of Parma in the Emilia-Romagna region .

The etymological origin of the name "Ceno" goes back to the Celtic tribe of the Cenomanni , who, according to Polybius, around 400 BC. Immigrated to northern Italy.

The valley of the Ceno is a well-known site for metamorphic minerals . Among other things, the lherzolite occurs here .
