Centar Župa ( Macedonian Центар Жупа ; Turkish Merkez Jupa ; Albanian  Qendër Zhupë ) is a village in the west of North Macedonia , which is mostly inhabited by Turks . It is also the seat of the Opština of the same name .

Centar Župa is the center of the “Župa” microregion, which is located on a plateau above the Debar reservoir at an altitude of about 750 meters. The closest town is Debar near the border with Albania , to which Centar Župa is connected by a winding road, which is also the only paved entrance into the municipality. The mountain peaks east of the village reach heights of over 2200 meters.

In addition to the community center, Župa also includes the villages of Papradnik, Balanci, Odžovci, Bajramovci and Žitineni.

population

In 2002 the municipality (Opština) Centar Župa had 6519 inhabitants, of whom 5226 called themselves Turks , 814 Macedonians and 454 Albanians .

According to this, exactly 800 people lived in Centar Župa itself, 714 of whom described themselves as Turks, 80 as Macedonians and four as Albanians.
