Center for Constitutional Rights

The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR; dt. Center for Constitutional Rights ) is a non-profit organization that campaigns for the fundamental and human rights and its further development. The organization, based in New York City , USA , was founded in 1966 by the US attorney William Kunstler .

She is guided in her work are the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights .

CCR was best known for its commitment to the basic rights of prisoners in the US internment camp Camp Delta . Mohammed Al-Qahtani and Majid Khan, as well as several other prisoners, are also represented by CCR in court.

On November 30, 2004, CCR filed a criminal complaint against Donald Rumsfeld with the German federal prosecutor's office for war crimes and violations of international law. Public Prosecutor General Kay Nehm rejected the criminal complaint on February 10, 2005 on the grounds that he was not responsible.

In the US, CCR has called for a misconduct charge against US President George W. Bush .
