The CenturyLink Center is a multi-purpose arena in the US city of Bossier City in the state of Louisiana . Since 2010, the event hall has borne the name of the telecommunications company CenturyLink from Monroe , Louisiana.
Usage history
From its opening until the beginning of the 2010s, the arena was home to the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (dissolved in 2010) from arenafootball2 and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (dissolved 2011) from the Central Hockey League (CHL). In 2001 the basketball championships of the NCAA - Southland Conference were held in the CenturyTel Center. On September 28, 2002, an ice hockey game between two teams of the National Hockey League (NHL) took place in the arena for the first time when the Nashville Predators and the Atlanta Thrashers met in a preseason game in Bossier City. On January 14, 2007, the hall hosted the CHL All Star Games for the first time . Occasionally, the New Orleans Pelicans NBA team plays preseason games in Bossier City.
The center has not made a profit since it opened. There are only a few sold-out events and the teams could not afford the rents in the long term. After the Battle Wings and Mudbugs have left the arena, concerts and shows as well as NHL or NBA preseason games and college sporting events are currently taking place in the arena.
