Cereulide is an emetic toxin produced by the virulent Bacillus cereus . It is formed in the bacterial cell via a non-ribosomal peptide synthethase.

The detection can be done in a bioassay with boar spermatozoa . In addition, there is a method using liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry coupling according to DIN EN ISO 18465.
