Ceslaus Gotthard von Schaffgotsch (born November 9, 1726 in Breslau ; † October 17, 1781 ) was Vicar General in Breslau .

Life

His father was the imperial count Hans Anton Schaffgotsch, heir to Kynast and Greiffenstein as well as imperial chief official in Silesia . Ceslaus Gotthard studied in Paris 1747–1748 and received his doctorate in theology in Orléans in 1748 . In the same year he became cathedral capitular and in 1753 cathedral provost at Breslau cathedral .

In 1756 he was appointed vicar general by his brother, the Breslau bishop Philipp Gotthard von Schaffgotsch . After Breslau had been retaken by the Austrians at the beginning of the Seven Years' War , both brothers left the city on December 5, 1757 and, on the instructions of the Bohemian Queen Maria Theresa, went to the Austrian diocese. A return was not possible for Ceslaus Gotthard. In 1763 he renounced the Breslau chapter position.
