Chai Nat (also written Chainat ; Thai : ชัยนาท ) is the capital of the province ( Changwat ) Chai Nat in the central region of Thailand . Chai Nat is located in the administrative district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Chai Nat ( อำเภอ เมือง ชัยนาท ).

Chai Nat is located in the north central region on Mae Nam Chao Phraya . The city has always been a hub for goods of all kinds.
Economy and Importance
The area around Chai Nat shows the typical location of the central region: a flat fertile plain covered with rice fields , on which mainly wet rice is grown. Irrigation is regulated by the Chao Phraya Dam , the first dam in Thailand, which has dammed the Chao Phraya in the south of Chai Nat since 1957.
history
Originally the city was where Sankhaburi is today . It was not until King Mongkut (Rama IV) moved it to its present location on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya.
Attractions
- Wat Phra Boromathat Worawihan (Thai: วัด พระบรม ธาตุ วรวิหาร ) - Buddhist temple ( Wat ) a little above the Chaophraya dam with a chedi from the 15th century in the Srivijaya style.
- National Museum Chai Nat Muni ( พิพิธภัณฑสถาน แห่ง ชาติ ชัยนาท มุนี ) - right next to Wat Boromathat, with numerous ancient Buddha statues, including a seated Buddha from the 10th century.
- Wat Thammamun Worawihan ( วัด ธร ร มา มูล วรวิหาร ) - Buddhist temple from the Ayutthaya period at the foot of the Thammamun hill about eight kilometers outside the city. The great standing Buddha , which is called "Luang Pho Thammachak" ( หลวง พ่อ ธรรมจักร ), is very revered by the population.
- The “ Bird Park Chai Nat ” (Thai: สวน นก ชัยนาท ) - a huge bird park , about four kilometers outside the city.
