Channaton ( Hebrew חַנָּתֹן Ḥannaton , German 'gift of grace' , Plene also חנתון) is a kibbutz founded in 1984 in the Lower Galilee regional association in the northern district of Israel . In 2018 there were 963 people living in the kibbutz.
history
Chanaton goes back to the biblical city-state, which in the Amarna letters from 1350 to 1335 BC. Is described as Chinnatuna or Chinnatuni / Chinnatunu. The place described in the Amarna correspondence is said to be the old settlement of Tel Channaton (תל חַנָּתוֹן). The ancient settlement is also mentioned in the book of Joshua (19:14).
