Chandgi Ram
Chandgi Ram (also Master Chandgi Ram , born November 9, 1937 in Sisai , Hisar , Haryana ; † June 29, 2010 ) was an Indian wrestler .
Life
Ram achieved the greatest international success of his sporting career at the Asian Games in 1970, where he won the gold medal in his weight class (up to 100 kg). At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , he could not repeat this result as 21st, after he was eliminated in the 2nd round of the light heavyweight division. He later became a coach of Indian wrestlers.
He received the Arjuna Award for Indian Style Wrestling ( Pehlwani ) in 1969 and the Padma Shri , a high Indian civil order, in 1971 .
