Chany Suárez (* in Capitán Sarmiento / Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine singer.

Live and act

Suárez made her debut as a professional singer in her hometown in 1968. In 1972 she performed at the Festival de Villa María , in 1974 she wrote her first solo album Me gusta andar , on which she composed compositions by Patricio Mans , Gustavo Leguizamón , Jaime Dávalos , Manuel J. Castilla , Armando Tejada Gómez , Hamlet Lima Quintana , Damián Sánchez , Pepe Núñez , Marcos Velázquez , Julio Lacarra , Horacio Peñalva , Tono Baez and Daniel Homer sang.

For the album No te rindas Suárez received the Premio Prensario in 1983 . In 1985 she recorded the album Horizontes in New York with the latin jazz and fusion musicians Jorge Dalto , Eddie Gomez , Peter Erskine and Carlos Valdez . At the 1986 Cosquin de la Canción Festival she received first prize. From 1995 to 1997 she made concert tours through the USA again, and in 1986 she appeared in a performance of Handel's Messiaa with the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra and Choir.

In Brazil, Suárez took part in the Foro Social Mediterráneo (2000) and the Encuentro Global Jubileo Sur (2003). In 2002 she was awarded the Candil de Kilmes de Honor . In the same year she made her hometown an honorary citizen. In 2004 she released María Florida an album for children. The following year she received the Premio Konex in the female folk singer category.
