Carlos Valdez , full name Carlos Adrián Valdez Suárez , (born May 2, 1983 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player . He plays in the position of a defender .

Career

society

Valdez, known as "El Hormiga", began his career in his hometown of Montevideo at Nacional . In the seasons 2001/02 up to and including 2004/05, 48 missions (no goal) were made for him at the Bolsos . In 2005 he won the Uruguayan Championship with Nacional under coach Martín Lasarte . Then he moved abroad for the first time in July 2005 to the Italian Serie A club FBC Treviso . At Treviso, he made his debut on October 23, 2005 in the 1: 2 home defeat against FC Empoli in Serie A and played 19 league games in the 2005/06 season without a personal goal. At the end of the season Treviso finished last and descended into the Series B from. In the following second division season he ran in 34 games in Serie B and scored two goals. In the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons he played for Reggina Calcio in Serie A. 63 first division appearances are there for him. In 2009/10, after Reggina's relegation, Valdez had completed 31 matches in Serie B, in which he hit the opposing goal once. In the first half of the 2010/11 season, Valdez then played three second division games (no goal) for AC Siena between October 30, 2010 and January 14, 2011 . He moved to Siena in August 2010 on the basis of a loan deal with a purchase option.

At the end of January 2011 he returned to Uruguay for family reasons and initially joined the Club Atlético Peñarol on loan for six months . The transfer rights were at the time with Reggina. For the 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons, Valdez made 7 (no goal), 22 (no goal) and 27 (no goal) appearances for Peñarol in the Primera División. There are also 25 games in the Copa Libertadores, in which he scored a goal. In 2012/13 he was Uruguayan champion with the Aurinegros . In the 2013/14 season he completed 13 first division games (no goal) for the Montevideans. He was also used five times in the 2014 Copa Libertadores . In the 2014/15 season, in which Valdez extended his contract with Peñarol by two years in January 2015, he was used in 25 top division games (no goal). He also ran six times (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2014 . During the 2015/16 season, he was used in another 28 top division games (two goals) and three encounters (no goal) of the Copa Libertadores 2016 . His team won the national championship again. In the 2016 season he made eight league appearances (no goal) and one (no goal) in the 2016 Copa Sudamericana . In late January 2017, he joined Boston River . So far (as of July 29, 2017) he has played eight top division games (no goal) and one game (no goal) in the 2017 Copa Sudamericana .

National team

Valdez took part with the Uruguayan U-20 national team in the U-20 South American Championship 2003 . At the 2003 tournament in Uruguay, he ran in at least four tournament games and scored one goal. In Uruguay's U-23 team, the Olympic selection, he completed two international games under coach Juan Ramón Carrasco , when he lost in the 3-0 game against Chile's selection on January 7, 2004, in the 1-1 draw on January 11 2004 against Brazil and in the 1-1 draw against Venezuela on January 13, 2004 in the pre-Olympic South American U-23 qualification tournament was used. He didn't score a goal.

Valdez made his debut on March 1, 2006 under national coach Gustavo Ferrín in the friendly international match against England in the Uruguayan senior team . He took part in the 2007 Copa America with Celeste . Until his last appearance on August 11, 2010, he completed a total of 17 international matches (no goal) for the Uruguayan senior team.
