Even as a schoolboy he wrote poems and prose texts in Turkish. Since 1990, however, he has only been writing and publishing in German. In his texts, as in his everyday work, he circles “like a bird around the topics of flight, wars and poverty”, advocates for people who “experience discrimination in everyday life” in the hope “that one day there will only be one more There will be a home for the homeless, which no longer differentiates according to nationality or skin color. "

Hıdır E. Çelik was awarded the Rhineland Valley Culture Prize on April 4, 2006 by the Rhineland Regional Council for his services in the cultural / literary field as well as for promoting the intercultural coexistence of cultures . “As a 'border crosser' between Orient and Occident, between Islamic and Christian religion, but always as an actor and source of inspiration, you moved between different cultures and campaigned for a migration policy that looks beyond the day-to-day, beyond everyday life. (…) Literature is an excellent means of creating connections, connections between cultures, between distances, between peoples. The love of literature is always also a love of people - literature builds bridges and, last but not least, you have formulated that as a wish for the future. "
