In 1972 she represented her country at the Olympic Games in Munich on the 400-meter course. After she stayed below 52 seconds in the preliminary (first), in the intermediate (first) and in the semifinals (third), she confirmed her brilliant form in the final and finished sixth in 51.99 s. The Australian 4 x 400 meter relay , in which she was the final runner, came in 6th (3: 28.84 min)

1973 brought her her first podium places at international events. At the Pacific Conference Games , which were held in Toronto , she won two silver medals:

  • over 400 m in 52.9 s behind her compatriot Judy Canty (gold in 52.9 s) and
  • over 800 m in 2: 05.2 min behind the American Mary Decker (gold in 2: 05.1 min)

The following year (1974) she was allowed to celebrate her greatest successes at the Commonwealth Games in Christchurch . She won three medals:

  • 800 m: gold in 2: 01.11 min ahead of New Zealander Sue Haden (silver in 2: 02.04 min)

In 1976, she took part in the Olympic Games for the second time. In Montreal she started over 800 meters and made it to the semifinals, where she had to finish the competition as fifth in 2: 00.29 minutes. With this time she would have come in eighth and last place in the final, as the first seven runners stayed under the 2-minute limit. With the relay, in which she started as the third runner, she came in fourth with an excellent 3: 25.56 minutes.

In the following years their performance curve decreased. At the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978 , she finished eighth over 800 meters in 2: 04.82 minutes, exactly 2 seconds behind the victorious Judith Peckham, née. Canty. (She was not represented in the Australian 4 x 400 meter relay, which won silver). At the end of her career in 1979, she achieved another respectable fifth place at the World Cup in Montreal in 2: 02.62 minutes.
