Charles A. Holt

Charles A. Holt (born October 2, 1948 in Richmond (Virginia) ) is an American economist , especially behavioral economist and university professor .

Life

After studying at Washington and Lee University and Carnegie Mellon University , he obtained a Ph.D. From 1976 to 1981 he was assistant professor at the University of Minnesota , from 1982 to 1983 associate professor there . In 1983 he moved to the University of Virginia . There he was associate professor until 1989, and economics professor from 1989 to 1996 .

From 1996 to 2002 Holt held the Merrill H. Bankard Professorship , and since 2003 the A. Willis Robertson Professorship in Political Economy at the University of Virginia. Since 2003 he has also been an honorary professor at the University of Amsterdam .

From 1991 to 1993 Holt was President of the Economic Science Association and from 1993 to 1996 and 2001 to 2002 he was Director of the Thomas Jefferson Center for Political Economy . In 2002 he was President of the Southern Economic Association and from 2009 to 2010 President of the Society of Economic Educators .
