Charles Antoine Gidel
Charles Antoine Gidel (born March 5, 1827 in Gannat , Département Allier , † October 31, 1900 in Paris ) was a French literary historian.
Gidel attended college in his hometown. He worked at various grammar schools, became director of the Lycée Henri IV in Paris in 1872 and had been the College of Louis le Grand from 1878 . His academic successes and public lectures on literature made him known in wider circles and repeatedly won him academy prizes, for example for the

- Discours sur JJ Rousseau (1868)
- Imitations faites en grec depuis le douzième siècle, de nos anciens poèmes de chevalerie . - Paris, 1864
