Charles Henry Fernandez
Charles Henry "Max" Fernandez (born December 24, 1954 ) is an Antigua and Barbuda politician of the Antigua Labor Party . He has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2014 .
Life
Growing up in Saint John's , Fernandez graduated from the University of the West Indies . In 1984 he joined the Antigua Labor Party. In 1995 he was appointed to the Senate of Antigua and Barbuda by then Prime Minister Lester Bird . He held the post of senator until 2004. During this time he was, among other things, a member and chairman of the Committee for Free Trade . In the 2009 general election , his party made him a candidate in the constituency of St. John's Rural North . Fernandez was defeated, however, against the incumbent of the United Progressive Party , Herbert John Maginley . In the 2014 general election , he was then able to prevail with 60.55% of the vote. Since then he has held the office of Foreign Minister. Fernandez is married and has three sons. He lives with his family in his constituency.
