Berthold flour
Franz Berthold Gemehl (born October 24, 1832 in Bruchsal , † March 31, 1897 in Karlsruhe ) was a German officer, most recently major general.
Life
Gemehl was the son of the chief bailiff Kaspar Gemehl . He studied at the University of Heidelberg and became a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg in 1852 and of the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg in 1854 . After his studies he became an active officer. As such, he took part in the Franco-German War . On November 20, 1870, as Prime Lieutenant and leader of a squadron of the 1st Badischer Leib-Dragoons Regiment No. 20 in the battle of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Gemehl was seriously wounded by a shot in the head . In 1890 he became a colonel in command of the Baden Gendarmerie Corps. In 1894, Gemehl was promoted to major general.
