Marie Charles Louis d'Albert de Luynes ( April 24, 1717 - October 8, 1771 ) was a French nobleman and military man. He was the 5th Duke of Luynes , Pair de France and Governor of Paris .

biography

Charles Louis d'Albert was the son of Charles Philippe d'Albert (1695-1758), 4th Duke of Luynes, and Louise Léontine de Bourbon-Soissons-Neuchâtel (1696-1721), daughter of Louis-Henri de Bourbon-Soissons ; he was titular Duke of Montfort, then Duke of Chevreuse , Count of Montfort-l'Amaury , then Duke of Luynes and Pair de France, Prince of Neuchâtel (title claimed but not recognized by the King), Marquis de Saissac et de Dangeau , Comte de Tours , de Noyers and Dunois .

During his military career he was brigadier of the Dragoons (1736), Maréchal de camp (1743), Lieutenant-général des Armée du Roi (1748), Colonel General of the Dragoons (1754), Governor of Paris (1757) and Chevalier de l ' Ordre du Saint-Esprit (1759).

He took part in the military conflicts of 1733 and 1735 ( War of the Polish Succession ), and from 1741 in the War of Austrian Succession . In 1741 he was in the capture of Prague , in the same year he was four times wounded in the battle near Sahay (Zahájí) at the head of the Dragoons. In 1742 he took part in the defense of Prague, then in all the sieges and battles of this war.

He married on January 25, 1735 in Saint-Sulpine in Paris Thérèse Pélagie d'Albert de Grimberghen, daughter of Ludwig Joseph d'Albert de Luynes von Grimbergen , imperial ambassador to France, and Madeleine Marie Honorine Charlotte, princesse de Berghes. She died in Paris in 1736.
