Charles McGinnis
Charles McGinnis ( Charles English McGinnis ; born October 4, 1906 in Kansas City , † April 29, 1995 in Peoria , Arizona ) was an American high jumper and pole vaulter .
In 1928 he finished second in the high jump and fourth in the pole vault with his respective personal bests of 1.956 m and 4.11 m at the US championship, thus qualifying for the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in both disciplines . There he was seventh in the high jump with 1.88 m. In the pole vault he was with two other athletes who had crossed 3.95, behind Sabin Carr (4.20 m) and William Droegemueller (4.10 m). In the jump-off for the bronze medal, McGinnis prevailed against the Canadian Victor Pickard and his compatriot Lee Barnes .
