Charles Novi
Charles Martin Novi (born June 30, 1887 in Milan , † April 1966 in Mexico City , Mexico ) was an Italian- born American art director and set designer who was nominated for an Oscar for best production design.
Life
Originally from Italy, Novi began his career as art director and production designer in the Hollywood film industry in 1936 in the film drama Give Me Your Heart, directed by Archie Mayo , with Kay Francis , George Brent and Roland Young in the leading roles. Until 1944 he worked on the production of around sixty films, many of which were short films .
At the Oscar ceremony in 1945 Novi was with Jack McConaghy for the Academy Award for Best Production Design nominated in a color film, and indeed for love song of the desert , one directed by Robert Florey incurred musical film with Dennis Morgan , Irene Manning and Bruce Cabot .
