Jack McConaghy

Jack McConaghy (born December 21, 1902 in Pennsylvania , USA , † October 13, 1977 in San Diego , California , USA ) was an American production designer who was twice nominated for the Oscar for best production design.

Life

McConaghy began his career as a production designer in the Hollywood film industry in 1941 with the biography created under the title Sergeant York about Alvin C. York by director Howard Hawks with Gary Cooper in the lead role and Walter Brennan and Joan Leslie in other roles. Until 1964 he was involved in the staging of over twenty films and television series .

At the Oscar ceremony in 1945 McConaghy was with Charles Novi for the Academy Award for Best Production Design in a color film nominated, namely for love song of the desert ( The Desert Song , 1943), one directed by Robert Florey incurred musical film with Dennis Morgan , Irene Manning and Bruce Cabot .

McConaghy received his second Oscar nomination for best production design in a color film in 1946 with Ted Smith for the David Butler- directed western A Man of Action (San Antonio, 1945) in which Errol Flynn , Alexis Smith and Victor Francen played the leading roles.
