Charles Scolik (born March 16, 1854 in Vienna ; † June 1, 1928 there ) was an Austrian photographer .

Life

Scolik trained as a photographer from 1867. In 1876 he took over the Vienna Atelier F. Kohler, which he continued under the name Atelier Amelie . In the following years he developed into one of the leading portrait photographers in Vienna. Scolik was one of the first Austrian photographers to photograph public events since the beginning of the 1890s and published his photos in the press. In 1887 he supported the founding of the “Club of Amateur Photographers in Vienna” and has been teaching there since 1891.

In 1892 Scolik was appointed court photographer. For several years he was editor and publisher of the Photographische Rundschau. He was a member of the photographic associations of Vienna, Frankfurt and Berlin . He has received numerous awards for his work.
