Charli D'Amelio (born May 1, 2004 in Norwalk ) is an American influencer . She gained international fame through the TikTok social network . With over 82 million subscribers, she has the most subscribed TikTok account .

She is the daughter of politicians Marc D'Amelio and Heidi D'Amelio. Her older sister is Dixie D'Amelio .

Career

D'Amelio's career began on TikTok in the summer of 2019 by uploading dance videos for "trending songs" to the platform. Her first TikTok was a lip-sync with her friend. It gained over 70 million TikTok followers, 21.2 million Instagram followers, 5.06 million YouTube subscribers, and 2.4 million Twitter followers. On March 25, 2020, she became the Most Followed account on TikTok, surpassing the previous Most Followed person, Loren Gray .

In 2019, former Sony Music manager Barbara Jones signed D'Amelio with her management company Outshine Talent. In January 2020, D'Amelio signed with talent agency UTA and appeared alongside other celebrities in a Super Bowl commercial for Sabra Hummus . She was invited to compete in Super Bowl LIV and meet with Jennifer Lopez to create the TikTok J Lo Super Bowl Challenge. She was named "Ruling Queen" of TikTok by the New York Times in January 2020 .

She was part of the TikTok collaborative web group "Hype House" along with 18 others, including her sister Dixie D'Amelio. In May 2020, a D'Amelios representative confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that she and her sister had left Hype House after it became more of a business than something fun.

She danced a dance at the 2020 NBA All Star Game , where she performed with fellow members of the Hype House and the creator of the "Renegade" dance, Jalaiah Harmon. On March 27, 2020, D'Amelio worked on YouTube with actor Noah Schnapp . In May 2020, she and her sister announced a new podcast deal with the Ramble Podcast Network that will provide a behind-the-scenes look at their lives and specific topics on their minds. In May 2020, the Hollywood Reporter named her TikTok's "Biggest Star". On June 17, 2020, she created an alter ego called Barley D'Amelio on TikTok, where she publishes less professional content. The account has amassed over 3.9 million followers and can be found under the username @ barleydamelio123454321. As of July 17, 2020, her main account had 71.6 million followers.

Personal

After D'Amelio was repeatedly insulted because of her appearance, she and her sister, together with UNICEF, spoke out against cyberbullying and body shaming .

In April, she donated $ 50,000 to Norwalk Hospital due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

She has advertising collaborations with Dunkin 'Donuts, among others . Here she can order food free of charge for life. She was also seen on a commercial during the Super Bowl .
