Charles "Charlie" Cooke (born October 14, 1942 in St Monans ) is a former Scottish football player .

Life

Cooke began his professional playing career at Aberdeen FC in 1960, where he was nicknamed " Bonnie Prince ". In 1964 he moved to Dundee FC . In April 1966, the winger signed a contract with Chelsea . The transfer fee was around € 105,000. He made his debut for the Blues in May 1966 in the Messestädte Cup against FC Barcelona . In 1970 he won the English Cup and the following year he won the European Cup Winners' Cup with Chelsea. In 1972 the Scot was sold to Crystal Palace . After two years with the Eagles, he returned to the Blues in 1974. After another two years at Stamford Bridge , Cooke went to the New World with the Los Angeles Aztecs and the Memphis Rogues, each for two years. He spent another year in California with California Surf.

Internationally, Cooke played 16 times for the Scottish national football team . He made his debut against Wales in 1965 and played his last game against Portugal . In 1980 he coached the US team Memphis Rogues for a short time . Cooke currently owns a football school in Cincinnati .

The Scot also published an autobiography of his life called " The Bonnie Prince ".
