Charlotte Potts (born August 10, 1986 in Münster ) is a German journalist and television presenter .

Life

Charlotte Potts grew up in Lüdinghausen in the Münsterland. She studied modern and contemporary history, psychology and economics at the Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg im Breisgau , as well as journalism and politics at the American University in Washington, DC

Charlotte Potts completed her doctorate at the TU Chemnitz in 2016 . She wrote her dissertation on left and right populism in the USA. The book was published under the title “Protest in the Land of Unlimited Possibilities. Tea Party and Occupy in comparison. "

Career

From 2008 to 2015, Potts worked initially for ZDF and later for ARD as a producer in the broadcasters' studios in Washington, DC.In this role, she reported on the 2008 US presidential elections and 2012, among other things .

Since 2016 Charlotte Potts has been working as a political correspondent in the Deutsche Welle capital city studio in Berlin . There she reported, among other things, on the 2017 federal election , the subsequent coalition negotiations and the attack on Breitscheidplatz . Potts reports bilingually in German and English. Since January 2017, Potts has also been moderating the morning section of the ZDF morning magazine .

Private

Charlotte Potts is married and has one son.

  • "Medium Magazin" selected Potts among the top 30 journalists under 30 in Germany.
  • Potts chose “Newsroom.de” from “The 500” media makers.
  • For the US think tank Atlantic Council, Potts wrote a report on transatlantic relations from the perspective of the younger generation as one of 12 selected fellows.
