The Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office Rhein-Ruhr-Wupper (CVUA-RRW) is an institution under public law . The task of the CVUA-RRW is the examination and assessment of samples from the areas of food and veterinary monitoring as well as consumer goods. The number of samples is determined by the State Office for Nature, the Environment and Consumer Protection in North Rhine-Westphalia and taken on site by the food inspectors from the local food control department .
Emergence
The CVUA-RRW was founded on January 1, 2009 by establishment ordinance as an institution under public law (AöR). In the AöR, the tasks of the State Veterinary Investigation Office of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in Krefeld, the Chemical and Geoscientific Institute in Essen, the Chemical Research Institute Bergisches Land in Wuppertal and the Institute for Food Analysis and Environmental Hygiene in Moers were combined. The board currently consists of Detlef Horn and Reiner Pöll. The investigation office is based in Krefeld.
Catchment area
The CVUA-RRW is responsible for a total of approx. 3 million inhabitants for all investigations in the field of consumer health protection and protection against deception in the case of food, cosmetics and consumer goods and thus covers the following areas:
In addition, in the administrative districts of Cologne and Düsseldorf , the AöR is responsible for the areas of food hygiene , feed monitoring and residue tests on slaughtered animals, as well as for animal health and animal welfare tests and for tests relating to the monitoring of genetic engineering systems.
