Josef Blumrich

Josef Blumrich (born January 13, 1865 in Raspenau ( Bohemia ), † September 22, 1949 in Bregenz ) was an Austrian teacher and local scientist.

Life

Blumrich studied at the German University in Prague from 1886 to 1890 , and from 1890 to 1893 he worked there as an assistant to the mineralogist Friedrich Becke . In 1893 he passed the teaching examination (natural history etc.). From 1893 to 1895 Blumrich was a professor at the grammar schools in Komotau and Brno and from 1895 to 1925 professor at the grammar school in Bregenz.

Blumrich was a local researcher who was also very interested in natural science. He dealt with geology, mineralogy, botany (especially mossology), zoology, entomology and nature conservation. Blumrich was an honorary member of the University of Innsbruck , the Association of Friends of Nature in Reichenberg and the Association of Sudeten Germans.
