Chesham Bois is a village in Buckinghamshire , England , bordering Amersham and Chesham .
history
The original hamlet got its name from the Bosco family ( Italian for "forest" ), who owned the largest estate in Chesham during the reign of King John . Bois is the French translation of "forest". Subsequently, under the reign of Henry VII , the estate passed into the possession of the Cheynes of Chenies and later with the rest of the Cheynes estate to the Duke of Bedford .
