Chick Island

Chick Island is an isolated rocky island off the Sabrina coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It is located about 16 km northeast of the Henry Islands .

Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used to map them. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1963 after Amos C. Chick (1801 – after 1870), carpenter on the sloop USS Vincennes , flagship of the United States Exploring Expedition (1838–1842) under the direction of the American polar explorer Charles Wilkes .
