description

The animal reaches a head-torso length of 8 to 10 cm and a tail length of 10 to 15 cm. The 2.5 to 3.3 cm long hind feet are striking. The fur is dirty orange on the top and whitish on the belly. Correspondingly, the tail is dark on top and light on the underside. It has a white tassel at the end.

This bouncy mouse is found in the Chinese provinces of Qinghai , Gansu , Ningxia , Shaanxi , Sichuan and Yunnan . It lives in mountains that are 3,000 to 4,000 meters high and can be found in steppes , bushland and cold temperate forests.

Otherwise almost nothing is known about the way of life.

The IUCN sees no decisive obstacles for the Chinese jumping mouse and lists them as not endangered ( Least Concern ).
