Chipman is a small town ( village ) in the Canadian province of New Brunswick . The population in 2011 was 1236 people.

geography

Chipman is located in Queens County near the northern tip of Grand Lake . New Brunswick's provincial capital, Fredericton, is around 60 kilometers southwest . Moncton to the southeast is around 90 kilometers away. The connecting roads New Brunswick Route 116 and New Brunswick Route 123 tangent Chipman in the north, the New Brunswick Route 10 runs through the place.

history

Chipman was founded in 1835 and named after the provincial chief magistrate at the time, Ward Chipman Jr. The livelihood of the inhabitants was initially coal mining, and later also the timber industry .
