Chitchor ( Hindi : चितचोर , Citcor ; translated: heart thief ) is a Hindi film by Basu Chatterjee from 1976.

action

Pitamber Choudhry, the principal of a school in Madhupur , has a daughter named Geeta. She embodies a typical village beauty, is naive and childish. Pritamber's older daughter Meera lives in Bombay and informs about a possible marriage between Geeta and a young engineer.

When Vinod arrives, everyone loves him. Above all, Geeta is enthusiastic about him, who teaches her to sing. The family is already making plans for a wedding when another letter arrives from Meera. This states that the engineer was unable to visit the family for business reasons. Vinad is just an overseer who takes care of the local business. The family is disappointed and tries to keep Geeta away from Vinod.

Sunil likes Geeta straight away and agrees to the engagement, which is quickly arranged. When Vinod hears of the engagement, he leaves the village before the ceremony begins. But Geeta defies her parents' wishes and insists on marrying Vinod. She rushes to the station and sees the train leaving. She returns with Sunil dejected. To her surprise, Vinod is there and all misunderstandings are cleared up. Nothing stands in the way of the engagement between Geeta and Vinod.
