The Chitistone River is a 37 km long left tributary of the Nizina River in southern Alaska (USA).
Its source is a small mountain lake at an altitude of 1769 m south of the Chitistone Pass . The Chitistone River flows in a southwesterly direction through the hill country and separates the easternmost Elias chain from the western Wrangell Mountains . Above the Chitistone Gorge are the Chitistone Falls on the river. Shortly afterwards, the Chitistone Glacier flows into the river from the left . Another major tributary is Glacier Creek , which is fed by the Twaharpies Glacier , also coming from the left. At the foot of Chitistone Mountain , the Chitistone River finally flows into the Nizina River.
