Chiu Chi Ling

Chiu Chi-ling ( Chinese  趙志淩 , Pinyin Zhào Zhìlíng ) (born January 20, 1943 ) is a Chinese actor and martial arts grandmaster. He has the 10th master degree in Hung Gar Kung Fu.

Life

Chiu Chi Ling was born in 1943 as the youngest son of Chiu Kow and Shiu Ying in Canton Province. At the age of six he started kung fu training under his famous father. At the age of 15 he began to assist Chiu Kow in treating patients in his clinics or doctor's offices. The Chiu family is known for their bone healing art (" Dit Da "). Later he also helped in teaching Hung Gar Kung Fu. At a young age, Chi Ling was fortunate to receive personal tutelage from Mok Gwei Lan, the fourth wife of China-famous Wong Fei Hung .

In the 1970s, when Chiu Kow retired , Chiu Chi Ling took over the school management. In 1971 Chiu Chi Ling opened his own kung fu school in Hong Kong on the famous Nathan Road in Kowloon. A year later, he married his wife, Chen Yuk Liang.

Before Hong Kong returned to China in 1997, Chiu Chi Ling graduated from school and immigrated to America.

Today, Grand Master Chiu travels a lot to make Hung Gar Kung Fu known around the world.

When there was a real kung fu film boom in the 1970s, Chiu Chi Ling was repeatedly asked whether he would like to act in films. He did not refuse the offers, but always refrained from leading roles. He preferred minor supporting roles and devoted himself to working in the background. He has helped in more than 70 films as a technical consultant, choreographer and chiropractor. Numerous film actors, including Jackie Chan , Chow Yun Fat and Stephen Chow , had Chiu Chi Ling prepare and instruct them for fight scenes.

Some of the most famous films with Chiu Chi Ling are Kung Fu Hustle , The Snake in the Shadow of the Eagle with Jackie Chan and Duel of the Seven Tigers .

He also produced an instructional video showing various Hung Gar Kung Fu exercises and the complete tiger crane shape.

Further information

In addition to his film career, Chiu Chi Ling also had a short career as a rally driver. His car was always numbered "54", which means "long life" "in Buddhist numbers.

Chiu Chi Ling also runs his own textile company "Ling's Fashion", which exclusively produces children's fashion.

The Chinese government has released a special collection of stamps with many famous masters for the 2008 Olympic Games. A page was also dedicated to Chiu Chi Ling and his students and grandchildren, along with other famous personalities such as Bruce Lee , Jackie Chan , Jet Li , Kwan Ta King , Carter Wong or Don Wilson .
