Choir ad libitum

The Ad Libitum Choir is a chamber choir based in St. Valentin ( Lower Austria / Austria ), which presents its performances in historically informed performance practice . The ensemble was founded in 1993 in St. Valentin, Lower Austria, by Heinz Ferlesch , who acts as its artistic director.

The choir's repertoire includes a cappella compositions, orchestral works with choir from the Baroque to the present day, including choral works by Heinrich Schütz , Anton Bruckner , Francis Poulenc , John Taverner , Frank Martin and Arvo Pärt , as well as the passions based on Matthäus and Johannes by Johann Sebastian Bach , the Messiah by Georg Friedrich Händel , Paulus and Elias by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , the Mass in E minor by Bruckner and the “Requien” by Verdi and Brahms . But the focus is on a cappella literature.

During the Corona crisis in summer 2020, the choir will perform under Ferlesch with Joseph Haydn's oratorio Die Jahreszeiten .

The choir often gives guest performances together with the Barucco Consort, also led by Heinz Ferlesch, on original instruments in the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and the Tyrolean Festival Erl . He has published several CDs and can be heard regularly on various programs on ORF .
