Chrigel Maurer

Christian "Chrigel" Maurer (born July 27, 1982 ) is a Swiss paraglider pilot from Adelboden . After his apprenticeship as a bricklayer , he worked as a test and competition pilot at the Swiss paraglider manufacturer Advance . He has been a full-time competition pilot since December 2012. Between 2012 and 2014 he flew and worked for the paraglider manufacturer Ozone . He has been back at Advance since the end of 2014. He has been married to Karin Maurer since 2007 .

He is active both in cross country flying and in paragliding acro with excellent results.

Records

Maurer was the world record holder in infinity tumbling , the record he set in 2009 with 210 turns. He held another world record from 2006 to 2011 with an FAI triangle over 266 km in Valais . On June 2, 2019, he won the FAI triangle world record with a flight of 343 km from Niesen .

In 2004, he also set a European record of 323 km in a cross-country flight from Niesen am Thunersee to Landeck in Tyrol. In addition, he won the Redbull X-Alps 6 times in a row, which no one has done before him.
