Red Bull Vertigo

Raft landing according to the acro program

The Red Bull Vertigo delta and paragliding acrobatics event took place between 1997 and 2006 in Villeneuve on Lake Geneva in Switzerland . Until the first official world championship was held in 2006 , it had the status of an unofficial world championship - in 2006 the event was classified as a world championship.

The place is predestined for events of this kind, as the steep mountain slopes mean there is a sufficient difference in altitude between take-off and landing. For safety reasons, the zone in which the maneuvers are flown is completely over Lake Geneva. The spectators sit on the lakeshore and the pilots land on a raft , which means an additional difficulty and attractiveness.

On the basis of this event, numerous other paragliding acro events were set up. A selection of them:

2005

The Red Bull Vertigo 2005 had to deal with bad weather. Therefore, only one valid run could be flown per category. But there was an individual rating for the paragliders in view of next year's World Championship.
