Christopher P. "Chris" Carney (born March 2, 1959 in Cedar Rapids , Iowa ) is an American politician . Between 2007 and 2011 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Chris Carney attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon until 1981 . He then studied until 1983 at the University of Wyoming in Laramie and then at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln political science. Since 1995 he has been a member of the US Navy Reserve . He was activated several times for some time and used in crisis areas. From 1992 he taught political science at the University of Pennsylvania school Penn State Worthington Scranton . From 2002 to 2004, although he is a member of the Democratic Party , he worked for the federal government under President George W. Bush as an anti-terrorist analyst.

In the 2006 congressional election , Carney was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Republican Don Sherwood on January 3, 2007 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2011 . He was a member of the Committee on Homeland Security and the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure as well as a total of three sub-committees. In 2010 he was not re-elected.

Chris Carney has five children with his wife Jennifer.
