Chris Carter (athlete, 1989)
Chris Carter (born March 11, 1989 ) is an American athlete who specializes in the triple jump .
Career
After winning his first US triple jump championship title at the US indoor track and field championships in Albuquerque on February 23, 2014 with a width of 17.15 meters , he was nominated for the 2014 indoor world championships in the Polish city of Sopot . There he missed a medal in sixth place with a width of 16.74 meters. After being unable to match the previous year's performance in 2015, he missed qualifying for the Summer Olympics in the trials . He was invited to the Diamond League meeting in Paris , which took place shortly after the Olympics. There he recorded his first victory in the IAAF Diamond League on August 27, 2016 with a width of 16.92 meters .
After increasing his personal best to 17.20 meters in Houston on February 18, 2018 , he was allowed to participate in the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham . With a width of 17.15 meters, it took fifth place. A little later he started in Portland at the US indoor championships and won his second US championship on March 12, 2018 by jumping to 17.06 meters.
