He then went to the United States for six years : from 1996 to 1998, Christoffersen played at Nordoff High School in the state of California , then at the University of Oregon (1998 to 2002). Since the Dane had little basketball experience in 1996, the start in the USA was difficult, before Christoffersen developed into a top performer and received a scholarship to the University of Oregon (first NCAA division). He achieved his best statistical values in his final game year 2001/02, when he achieved an average of 8.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. When he left Oregon in 2002, he was third on the college team's all-time list of blocked throws.

Christoffersen was in the 2002/03 season with the Italian first division club Scavolini Pesaro under contract, but remained a substitute player with little time. After a short trip to Greece and Panionios Athens , which was not crowned with success, he returned to the United States and played in the National Basketball Development League in 2003/04, first for the Roanoke Dazzle team, then for the Fayetteville Patriots .

From 2004 Christoffersen played for the Bakken Bears in his home country Denmark. His time with the team from Aarhus was interrupted three times: In the second half of the 2005/06 season he was in the service of the Finnish club Lappeenranta NMKY and was national champion and cup winner with the team. At the beginning of the 2006/07 game year he was under contract with the Swedish club Södertälje Kings , but injured himself after a few games and fell out for a long time. He returned to the Bakken Bears, for whom he played until the end of the 2018/19 season. In the spring season 2009 he was meanwhile active for the Australian team Willetton Tigers.

Christoffersen, who announced his retirement from the Danish national team in 2013, played 557 games for Bakken and scored more than 4,600 points. In the Danish league ( Basketligaen ) he made 411 appearances and 3607 points. The inside player achieved his highest mean values in the 2009/10 season, when he averaged 12.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game in the Danish league on the statistics sheet. Only his point average was slightly higher in 2004/05 at 13.8. He became Danish champion ten times with Bakken, which made him the record holder in basketball in the Scandinavian country in this regard. He also won the Danish Cup competition seven times. In the 2012/13 season he was named the best player in the final series of the Danish league.
