Chris Hirson

Christopher "Chris" Hirson (born December 20, 1956 in New York City ) is an American saxophonist and modern jazz flautist .

Hirson was educated at Hunter College. He has lived in Europe since the early 1980s, where he mainly works with his own groups. The focus was initially on the duo with guitarist Geoff Goodman , which has been documented on several records and has performed at international festivals ( Montreux Jazz Festival , Leverkusener and Leipziger Jazztage ). This duo was partially expanded to a quartet by 2001. In 1992 he recorded the album “Clubmusik” with Mikesch van Grümmer . He also worked with Ack van Rooyen , Jiggs Whigham , Marty Cook and Larry Porter as well as in a duo with Richie Beirach . He is currently working with his quintet Seta Tunes (with singer Mithila Motaleb, pianist Carsten Daerr , Oliver Potratz on double bass and Sebastian Merk on drums). Hirson also works with dance groups. He also composes for the film.
