Mikesch van Grümmer
Mikesch van Grümmer ( aka Hans Josef Grümmer ; born January 2, 1950 in Bardenberg near Aachen , † July 10, 2006 ibid) was a German jazz pianist and composer .
Van Grümmer's best-known work is the Barlach cycle (LP 1988). He played with Lee Konitz , Gerd Breuer , Manfred Leuchter , Riccardo Del Fra , Ack van Rooyen , Jiggs Whigham , Monika Linges , Gunnar Plümer , Chris Hirson and Bill Ramsey , among others ; he gave two concerts at the Montreux Jazz Festival . As the leading head of the jazz rock formation Brummkreisel set important impulses for the regional music scene in Aachen in the 1970s. He was considered one of the most prominent session instrumentalists in the region.
