Gerd Breuer

Gerd Breuer (* 13. January 1959 in Alsdorf at Aachen ) is a German jazz - drummer , composer and music producer ; he is considered an "internationally sought-after" Latin percussionist .

Life

Breuer started self-taught playing the drums at the age of 14. Later he trained in percussion. Initially he was mainly interested in rock music - but later he discovered his love for jazz music and especially Latin American music. In the early eighties he accompanied Bill Ramsey with the merger group Brummkreisel .

In the course of his work, Breuer can be heard on over fifty LP and CD productions, 17 of them in the field of jazz, for example with Monika Linges , Mikesch van Grümmer , Daniel Guggenheim / Hermeto Pascoal or Stefan Heidtmann . In the 1980s and 1990s he toured Europe with many well-known jazz musicians, such as Tony Scott , Lee Konitz , Sal Nistico , Hermeto Pascoal, Leroy Jones , Jiggs Whigham , Charlie Mariano , Tony Lakatos , Dennis Luxion , Ack van Rooyen , Wolfgang Engstfeld , Hugo Read , Andy Lumpp , Eugen Cicero , Gene Conners , Steve Houben , Jacques Pelzer , Michel Herr , Paul Grabowsky , Riccardo Del Fra or Katie Webster . He played at international jazz festivals such as the Frankfurt Jazz Festival , the Leverkusener Jazztagen , Gouvy Jazz Festival, the Jazz Festival Montreux , the North Sea Jazz Festival , or the Nokia Jazz Festival Abu Dhabi.

Breuer is the founder of the jazz quartet Klangfahrer (CDs Humanity , Colors of Trance ). In 2001 his first solo record "OG & The Forbidden Groove Species" appeared, on which he not only worked as a drummer, but also as a producer and composer. In 2007 the second solo production "Temque Fazer" followed with the Brazilian guitarist and singer Dinho Alves. In 2014 he released the album "Day Breaking" on the Timezone label under the name OGroove.
