Chris Kempczinski

Christopher John Kempczinski (born September 26, 1968 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American manager . He has been CEO and President of McDonald’s since November 3, 2019 .

Life

Chris Kempczinski is the son of vascular surgeon Richard Kempczinski and teacher Ann Marie Campbell. He grew up in his native Cincinnati, where his father worked at the University Hospital, and graduated from Indian Hill High School in Indian Hill, a suburb of Cincinnati. Kempczinski received his bachelor's degree from Duke University and graduated from Harvard Business School with a Master of Business Administration degree in 1997 .

After completing his bachelor's degree, Kempczinski initially worked for the consumer goods group Procter & Gamble before starting his master's degree. After completing his master's degree, Kempczinski became a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group . In 2000 he moved to PepsiCo , where he worked in the marketing department for North America in 2006. After a brief stint at the Kraft Foods Group , Kempczinski moved to the management of McDonald's in September 2015. He was initially a member of the global strategy team and was promoted to President of McDonald's USA in October 2016, where he was responsible for the business of the approximately 14,000 branches in the United States. In November 2019, Steve Easterbrook , who had previously been CEO and President of McDonald's, was removed from his position due to an in-house amicable love affair and Kempczinski was appointed as his successor.

Chris Kempczinski is married with two children and lives near Chicago .
