In the sixth draw, Plys played for the disappointing Skip John Shuster and won this game against France with 4: 3 stones.

In the same year he played for the first time at the World Cup . As an alternate in the American team of John Shuster, he was fifth. His next World Cup participation followed in 2018 , again as an alternate in the team led by Rich Ruohonen ; the Americans came in sixth place.
